Vancouver Home Interior Photos 2013

It took us about six weeks, up until Thanksgiving to complete tweaking, unpacking, and decorating our new home, displaying some 35 of the most treasured pieces in our Oriental rug collection. Minor changes will continue as we further personalize the place, but the photos below provide a pretty good idea of what it all looks like at the holidays.

This is our Vancouver home photographed from the front after all the remodeling was finished.
Below we enter through the front door.

The front entry with genuine hardwood floors, persian rugs and
our Howard Miller grandfather clock and 'Tree of Life' Belgian tapestry.

The front entry with the antique Chinese cabinet
directly across from our Howard Miller grandfather clock.

Our living room features our beloved Tabriz Persian rug with Asian Art decor.
The Tabriz, acquired in the late 90's, inspired us to begin collecting persian rugs.

The wall unit and display cabinets in the living room displaying our extensive
Buddha Art collection with the front entry off to the right and our Howard Miller grandfather clock.

Our elegant formal dining room viewed from the living room.

Patrick and Joe finish hanging our fabulous 19th century Ferahan Sarouk on one of the high walls
in the dining area. Working from the ladder and the hall walkway landing upstairs
we managed to get it hung nicely on a tapestry rod in a couple hours.

The comfortable family room adjacent to the kitchen with Libby's antique desk, fireplace,
entertainment center, his & hers recliners and our gorgeous Turkish Hereke vintage Oriental rug.
That's Corey in the corner recliner watching out the window for squirrels.

Our Western Theater decor... we watch a lot of Westerns on Encore Western and TCM
and our family room fireplace with Resolute wood burning stove complete
with my Winchester 30-30 is a tribute to our love of the Western Film genre.

in the Church of Fareed (Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN).

The 5/8 octagon breakfast eating area off the kitchen with Travertine marble tile floor

The beautiful kitchen with granite counters, Jennair gas range, high end appliances
and rich dark oak cabinetry looking out the front of the house.

The unique main floor half-bath off the entry way for guests with the beautiful tile work.

Heading up the grand staircase to the second level, we're greeted by a small Nain rug
at the head of the stairs and by our spectacular museum quality Mohtashem Kashan
hanging on the wall in our mini rug gallery... a very fine silk/wool Kashan
hangs over the railing beside a special Yomut woven by a master Turkomen weaver.

Turning left at the landing and heading into the master bedroom we cross over
another museum quality rug.... a Qazvin. Qazvin rugs are no longer woven since about 1930.
Across the way a lovely Aubusson flatweave hangs on the opposing railing.

The generous master bedroom is fit for a king. That is a 7'x10' Mahallat rug,
with its spectactular center medallion at the foot of the throne-like king size bed.
An exquisite small silk Turkish Hereke lies draped over the back of the love seat.

The opposing view in the master bedroom shows the magnificent antique armoire
acquired just for this house. It houses a 55 inch Sony 3D LED TV and home theater system,
perfect for a cozy evening in bed watching a classic film on Comcast cable.

The master bath is tastefully appointed with granite counters, garden tub and extensive tile work.
That's another of our favorite rugs, a third Shadsar Kashan, this one with a rose color field.

A second view of the master bath showing the large tile shower - A small silk Qum rug adorns the wall.

Walking back out of the master bedroom, that is the home office on the left
and the hallway down to the two guest bedrooms at the other end of the second story.

Glancing down over the railing on the right is the front entry way
with two Shadsar Kashan rugs on the hardwood floor.

Glancing down over the railing on the left is the formal dining room
with the elegant Asian style dining set atop a marvelous plush Sarouk rug.

Looking into the home office, that's a fine 5'7' Tabriz Heriz rug
in front of the sofa and Libby's desk and credenza along the wall.

The opposing view in the office shows Joe's desk and bookcase.

Looking back out the door of the office to the landing
that's a splendid brass and glass display case housing
more of our extensive Buddha and Asian art collection.

At the end of the hallway are two guest bedrooms
that's a very fine Chinese silk rug at the foot of the bed.

The opposing view in the first guest bedroom
showing the third of three pieces from our living room wall unit.

Across the hall on the front side of the house is the second guest bedroom

The opposing view in the second guest bedroom showing Libby's collectibles
in an antique Duncan Pfyfe cabinet with a lovely small Isfahan rug in front.

This is the guest bath on the hallway serving the two guest rooms

Back on the landing, with the lovely Lake Como tapestry
on the wall, and the fine silk/wool Kashan on the railing,
we're looking down the steps out the large picture windows in the grand staircase.

We finish our tour with a shot of the front of the completed house with the
wonderful new windows, fresh paint with tri color paint scheme and enhanced landscaping.
It was Halloween and that's a lighted pumpkin display out front.
